Facial Barcodes

Natural ‘barcodes’ of information, built into human faces, may help improve face recognition software, a study said. By manipulating images of celebrities like George Clooney, Steven Dakin from University College London and Roger Watt from University of Stirling showed that nearly all the information we need to recognise faces is contained in horizontal lines, such as those of eyebrows, eyes and lips. These features could be simplified into black and white lines of information, that is, barcodes.
